Description

Quick Greek Pita is a soft, chewy, easy recipe that brings fresh homemade bread to your table without much effort. Ingredients

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

3/4 cup warm water

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt


Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until foamy.

2. Add the flour, salt, olive oil, and Greek yogurt. Mix until a dough forms.

3. Knead the dough until smooth and soft. Cover and let it rest until slightly puffed.

4. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

5. Roll each ball into a round pita shape on a lightly floured surface.

6. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each pita until bubbles form and golden brown spots appear.

7. Flip and cook the other side until the pita is cooked through and tender.

8. Wrap the cooked pitas in a clean kitchen towel to keep them soft and warm.

Notes

Do not add too much extra flour while kneading or rolling, because a dry dough will make the pita dense instead of soft and tender.
