These PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps are a quick dinner, easy appetizer, and fresh low-carb meal idea packed with savory chicken, crunchy water chestnuts, crisp lettuce, garlic, ginger, and a glossy hoisin-style sauce. Ingredients
1 lb ground chicken
1 tablespoon avocado oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1/3 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce, optional
1 can 8 oz water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped
3 green onions, sliced
1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, optional
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro, optional
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Separate the butter lettuce leaves, rinse them gently, dry them very well, and arrange them on a serving platter.
2. In a small bowl, stir together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha, and black pepper until smooth.
3. Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and ginger, then cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Add the ground chicken and break it into small crumbles. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, until fully cooked and lightly browned.
5. Stir in the chopped water chestnuts and half of the green onions. Cook for 1 minute to warm through.
6. Pour the sauce over the chicken mixture and stir until everything is glossy and coated. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
7. Remove from heat and garnish with the remaining green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro.
8. Spoon the warm chicken filling into the chilled lettuce cups and serve immediately.
Notes
Do not assemble the lettuce wraps too early. Keep the filling and lettuce separate until serving so the lettuce stays crisp and does not become watery or wilted.
