Description
This Cuban Sandwich Cubano is a hot, crispy, melty sandwich loaded with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, tangy pickles, and yellow mustard pressed between golden bread. It is an easy recipe for a quick lunch, simple dinner, game day food idea, or hearty sandwich night when you want bold flavor without a complicated prep.
Ingredients
1 loaf Cuban bread
1/2 pound roasted pork, thinly sliced
1/2 pound deli ham, thinly sliced
8 slices Swiss cheese
1/2 cup dill pickle slices
1/4 cup yellow mustard
2 tablespoons softened butter
Instructions
1. Slice the Cuban bread lengthwise and spread yellow mustard over the cut sides.
2. Layer the roasted pork evenly over the bottom half of the bread.
3. Add the ham over the pork, then place Swiss cheese slices on top.
4. Arrange dill pickle slices in an even layer and close the sandwich.
5. Spread softened butter over the outside of the bread.
6. Heat a panini press or heavy skillet over medium heat.
7. Press the sandwich until the bread is golden and crisp and the cheese is fully melted.
8. Let it rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
Do not cook the sandwich over very high heat, or the bread may burn before the cheese melts. Medium heat gives the best crispy crust and warm, gooey center.
