Ingredients
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
3 cups marinara sauce
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or basil
12 ounces cooked spaghetti or pasta
Instructions
1. Season the chicken breasts with Italian seasoning, garlic, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
2. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of the crock pot.
3. Place the chicken breasts in a single layer over the sauce.
4. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken.
5. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
6. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over the chicken, then cover for 10 to 15 minutes until melted.
7. Toast the panko breadcrumbs in olive oil or butter in a skillet until golden and crisp.
8. Serve the chicken over cooked pasta and spoon extra sauce over the top.
9. Finish with toasted breadcrumbs, fresh parsley or basil, and extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
Do not add the breadcrumbs to the crock pot while the chicken cooks. They will turn soft from the steam and sauce, so toast them separately and sprinkle them on right before serving for the best texture.
