Ingredients
1 9-inch pie crust
1 1/2 cups pecan halves
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 large eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Fit your pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp the edges if desired and refrigerate while preparing the filling.
2. Toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring often until fragrant. Remove from heat.
3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar, granulated sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt. Let it cool slightly.
4. Whisk in the eggs one at a time into the cooled sugar mixture until smooth.
5. Spread chocolate chips evenly on the bottom of the chilled pie crust.
6. Pour the filling over the chips and top with toasted pecans, distributing them evenly.
7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50–60 minutes, until the center is just set and doesn’t jiggle. Cover edges with foil if they brown too quickly.
8. Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve at room temperature or slightly warm.
Notes
This pie is even better the next day, so consider baking it ahead for gatherings.
Toasted pecans enhance flavor, so don’t skip this step.
Let the pie cool fully before slicing to allow the filling to set properly.
