Description

Golden, buttery puff pastry filled with warm cinnamon apples and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar — this Simple Apple Puff Pastry is the quick dessert (or breakfast treat!) that tastes like it took hours. Perfect for cozy mornings or elegant tea-time indulgence, it delivers all the nostalgic apple pie flavor in a beautiful, flaky package.

Ingredients

2 medium apples

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

1 egg

1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

1. Peel and thinly slice the apples. Toss them in a bowl with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Set aside.

2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 rectangles.

3. Spoon apple filling onto the center of each pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch border.

4. Cut another sheet of puff pastry into 4 rectangles. Slice slits into the tops and place over the filling. Seal the edges.

5. Beat the egg and brush over the tops of each pastry. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

6. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until golden and puffed.

7. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Make sure to thaw the puff pastry in the fridge for best texture.

Don’t overfill the pastry or it may burst open while baking.

For an extra touch, add a drizzle of caramel after baking.
