Ingredients
113g unsalted butter
200g granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp red food coloring
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp white vinegar
95g all-purpose flour
225g cream cheese, softened
60g powdered sugar
0.5 tsp vanilla extract (for cheesecake layer)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. Melt the butter in a large bowl. Stir in sugar until well combined.
3. Add eggs, vanilla extract, red food coloring, cocoa powder, and vinegar. Mix until smooth.
4. Gently fold in flour until just combined. Reserve 1/4 cup of the batter for swirling.
5. Pour remaining red velvet batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
6. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
7. Add powdered sugar and vanilla to cream cheese and beat until creamy.
8. Spread cheesecake mixture evenly over the red velvet base.
9. Drop spoonfuls of reserved batter on top and swirl with a knife or skewer.
10. Bake for 28–32 minutes, until center is set. Cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Chill the brownies before slicing for cleaner cuts.
Use gel food coloring for a more vibrant red and better texture.
Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the brownie layer fudgy.
