Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast, an easy dinner idea, or something indulgent for brunch, this easy recipe checks every box. It’s golden fried, filled with ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese, then dusted with powdered sugar and served with raspberry jam. If you’re into breakfast ideas or food ideas with a twist, this is the one.
Ingredients
4 slices thick-cut white bread or brioche
4 slices deli ham
4 slices sliced turkey breast
4 slices Swiss cheese
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/3 cup raspberry jam
1 cup neutral oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
Instructions
1. Lay out the bread slices. On one slice, add Swiss cheese, a layer of ham, then turkey, and another slice of cheese. Top with the second slice of bread. Press gently.
2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, flour, salt, and pepper until smooth.
3. Dip each sandwich carefully into the batter, coating all sides evenly.
4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
5. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
6. Slice the sandwiches in halves or quarters.
7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with raspberry jam.
Notes
Use brioche for extra richness and structure.
Avoid over-soaking the bread in batter—just enough to coat.
For a twist, try with Gruyère or a spicy pepper jelly.
