Description

Looking for a fun and colorful treat that’s perfect for parties, gifts, or a unique family dessert? These Rainbow Candy Apples are the ultimate showstopper. With vibrant candy layers and a satisfying crunch, they’re a fantastic easy recipe to brighten your table. Great for birthday ideas, holiday treats, and even as a quick dessert for kids, this DIY candy apple recipe is simple to customize and sure to impress.

Ingredients

6 Granny Smith apples

3 cups granulated sugar

1 cup light corn syrup

1 cup water

Gel food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)

Cooking spray or butter (for prepping pans)

6 lollipop sticks or wooden skewers

Optional: edible glitter or crushed candy

Instructions

1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples to remove wax. Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.

2. Line a tray with parchment paper and prep it with cooking spray.

3. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until sugar dissolves.

4. Attach a candy thermometer. Let the mixture boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).

5. Remove from heat. Divide syrup into bowls and mix in different gel colors.

6. Dip each apple into the first colored syrup. Let it set before adding the next color layer.

7. Repeat for all colors, letting each layer firm up between dips.

8. Decorate with edible glitter or crushed candy if desired.

9. Let the apples set at room temperature until firm and dry.

10. Serve or wrap individually for gifting. Store in a cool, dry place.

Notes

Make sure the syrup hits exactly 300°F or it won’t harden correctly on the apples.

Let each candy layer set completely before adding the next to avoid blending colors.

Use a spoon to drizzle the syrup down sides for more precise layering.
