Puerto Rican Coquito

  • Author: Livia Scott
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 7 cups

Description

Rich, creamy, and undeniably festive, Puerto Rican Coquito is the ultimate holiday drink that instantly transports you to the Caribbean with every sip. Blended with coconut, spices, and a touch of rum, this luscious beverage is Puerto Rico’s answer to eggnog — but silkier, sweeter, and infused with island warmth. Perfect for anyone looking for quick holiday drinks, easy dessert cocktails, or fun winter food ideas.

Ingredients

1 can (13.5 oz) coconut milk

1 can (15 oz) cream of coconut

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 cup white rum (optional)

2 cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Instructions

1. In a high-powered blender, combine the coconut milk, cream of coconut, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk. Blend on medium speed for 1 minute until smooth.

2. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Blend briefly until incorporated.

3. Add white rum (if using) and blend again for 20 seconds.

4. Pour the Coquito into glass bottles or jars with lids. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

5. Shake well before serving. Pour into glasses and garnish with cinnamon sticks and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

Use high-quality cream of coconut like Coco López for authentic sweetness and texture.

Let it chill overnight for the best flavor.

Shake before each pour, as natural separation is normal.
