Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
4 slices provolone cheese
4 brioche buns
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup fresh lettuce or greens
Instructions
1. In a large skillet over medium-low heat, add olive oil and sliced onions. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 25-30 minutes until caramelized and golden.
2. Stir in balsamic vinegar and let it cook for another 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix just until combined.
4. Shape into 4 equal-sized patties. Press down slightly in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.
5. Heat a grill or skillet over medium heat and lightly grease the surface.
6. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
7. Add a slice of provolone to each patty in the final minute of cooking and cover briefly to melt.
8. While patties cook, slice and toast the brioche buns until golden.
9. To assemble: place lettuce on the bottom bun, top with a turkey patty, spoon over caramelized onions, and close with the top bun.
10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Don’t rush the onions—low and slow caramelization brings out the best flavor.
For added moisture in the patties, try mixing in 1 tablespoon of mayo or grated onion.
Toasting the buns adds texture and helps prevent sogginess.
