Homemade Nutella

  • Author: Livia Scott
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 ½ cups (serves 8–10)

Description

Make your own rich, velvety Homemade Nutella in under 30 minutes using real ingredients and zero preservatives. This easy chocolate hazelnut spread is perfect for toast, fruit, or straight from the jar. A fantastic option for anyone looking for a healthier, customizable alternative to store-bought chocolate spreads. Great for quick breakfast ideas, healthy snacks, or dessert toppings.

Ingredients

2 cups roasted hazelnuts

4 ounces dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa)

3 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons neutral oil (sunflower or grapeseed)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roast the hazelnuts for 10–12 minutes until fragrant.

2. Let hazelnuts cool, then rub them in a towel to remove most of the skins.

3. Blend hazelnuts in a food processor until smooth and buttery, about 5–10 minutes.

4. Melt chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until fully smooth.

5. Add melted chocolate, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, salt, and oil to the nut butter.

6. Blend again until the mixture is creamy and spreadable.

7. Transfer to a jar with a lid and store at room temp for 2 weeks or refrigerate for 1 month.

8. Let it come to room temp before serving if chilled for easier spreading.

Notes

Use high-quality dark chocolate for a smoother, more luxurious flavor.

If the spread is too thick, add a little more oil until it reaches your desired texture.

For extra richness, add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder.
