Description
Homemade Air Fryer Potato Chips are a crunchy, salty, and surprisingly light healthy snack that comes together fast, perfect for quick breakfast and lunch sides, easy dinner add-ons, and anytime cravings when you need simple food ideas. This easy recipe turns basic potatoes into a better-for-you chip with minimal oil, giving you all the crunch of store-bought in a small-batch, family-friendly version that fits right into your favorite breakfast ideas, dinner ideas, and snack boards.
Ingredients
2 large russet potatoes scrubbed and dried
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon onion powder optional
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley or 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Scrub the potatoes well and dry them thoroughly, then slice them into very thin rounds using a mandoline or a sharp knife.
2. Place the potato slices in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 15 minutes, swishing them around with your hands to remove excess starch.
3. Drain the potatoes and spread the slices on clean kitchen towels or paper towels, patting them completely dry so no surface moisture remains.
4. Transfer the dry slices to a mixing bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and toss gently until every piece is lightly coated.
5. Sprinkle the slices with sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and onion powder, tossing again so the seasoning is evenly distributed.
6. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) if your model requires preheating.
7. Arrange the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each slice and cooking in batches as needed.
8. Air fry the potatoes for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through and checking often, until the chips are golden and crisp.
9. Transfer cooked chips to a wire rack or paper towel–lined tray and immediately sprinkle with a little extra salt if desired and the chopped parsley.
10. Let the chips cool completely so they can finish crisping before serving.
Notes
For perfectly crisp chips, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket—if the slices overlap, they will steam instead of crisp, so cook in small batches for the best texture.
