Description

This homemade garlic bread is the perfect easy recipe for busy families, packed with buttery garlic flavor and ready in minutes as a quick breakfast, simple lunch, or easy dinner, and it fits right into your favorite breakfast ideas, dinner ideas, healthy snack options, and food ideas when you need something warm and comforting that everyone will love.

Ingredients

1 large French baguette or Italian loaf

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Pinch red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

2. Slice the French baguette or Italian loaf in half lengthwise and place both halves cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.

3. In a small bowl, stir together the softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, chopped parsley, kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using, until well combined.

4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread, making sure to cover all the way to the edges.

5. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the buttered bread.

6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are crisp and the top is lightly golden and the cheese is melted.

7. For a deeper golden color, switch the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely so the bread does not burn.

8. Remove from the oven and let the garlic bread rest for 1–2 minutes, then slice into pieces and serve warm.

Notes

For the best texture, avoid over-broiling the garlic bread—once the edges are golden and the cheese is bubbling, take it out so the top stays crisp while the center remains soft and tender.
