Ingredients
2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can Dr Pepper
1 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker and season them with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the Dr Pepper, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
3. Pour the sauce over the chicken, cover, and cook on low until the chicken is very tender.
4. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
5. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir it into the sauce.
6. Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then stir it into the slow cooker if you want a thicker sauce.
7. Let the sauce cook a little longer until thickened, then stir again and serve warm with parsley on top.
Notes
Do not overcook the chicken on high heat for too long, or it can turn dry instead of tender and juicy.
