Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ cup cold salted butter, cubed

â…” cup buttermilk

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

6 oz lump crab meat

4 oz cream cheese, softened

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon chopped green onion


Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, crab meat, green onion, parsley, garlic powder, and paprika until smooth. Chill in the fridge.

2. In another bowl, whisk flour and baking powder. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.

3. Stir in cheddar and parsley. Add buttermilk and mix just until dough forms.

4. On a floured surface, gently knead dough and divide into 8 portions.

5. Flatten each, place crab filling in center, and seal into a ball.

6. Place seam-side down on a baking sheet. Brush tops with melted butter if desired.

7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes until golden.

8. Cool slightly before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

Use very cold butter for maximum flakiness in the biscuit dough.

Don’t overwork the dough—mix just until combined.

Make-ahead tip: Shape biscuits and freeze before baking. Bake from frozen with 5 extra minutes.
