Ingredients
4 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon chopped parsley
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
1. Wash the broccoli and cut it into evenly sized florets.
2. Steam or blanch the broccoli until bright green and just tender, then drain well.
3. Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
4. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Add the cooked broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter.
6. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
7. Sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese and toss again until the broccoli is evenly coated.
8. Finish with chopped parsley and lemon juice, then serve warm.
Notes
Do not overcook the broccoli at the steaming stage or it can turn too soft once it is tossed in the hot garlic butter and cheese.
