Ingredients
12 lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound Italian sausage
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
28 ounces crushed tomatoes
6 ounces tomato paste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
15 ounces ricotta cheese
1 egg
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onion and garlic; sauté until fragrant and translucent.
3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Boil the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside on a parchment-lined tray.
5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, beaten egg, parsley, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
7. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
8. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Repeat for 3 layers.
9. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
10. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
11. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
12. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
