Ingredients
1 box chocolate cake mix, baked and cooled
2 boxes instant chocolate pudding mix
4 cups cold milk
1 container whipped topping, thawed
1 1/2 cups toffee bits
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
1/2 cup chopped chocolate bar
Instructions
1. Bake the chocolate cake according to the package directions, then let it cool completely and cut it into cubes.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and thickened.
3. Add a layer of chocolate cake cubes to the bottom of a trifle dish or large glass bowl.
4. Spoon a layer of chocolate pudding over the cake, then spread a layer of whipped topping on top.
5. Drizzle with some chocolate syrup and sprinkle with toffee bits.
6. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped topping on top.
7. Garnish with extra toffee bits, chopped chocolate, and an additional drizzle of chocolate syrup.
8. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving so the layers can set and the flavors can come together.
Notes
Do not assemble the trifle while the cake is still warm, or the creamy layers can melt and turn runny instead of staying beautifully defined.
