Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup unsalted butter (softened)

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup heavy cream (for ganache)

2 cups fresh strawberries (halved)

Optional: 2 tablespoons chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans.

2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.

4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the wet mix. Stir until just combined.

5. Divide batter into pans. Bake for 25–30 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes, then cool completely on a rack.

6. In a chilled bowl, whip the cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Refrigerate.

7. Place the first cake layer on a plate. Spread whipped cream, arrange halved strawberries around the edge, fill the center with cream. Add second cake layer on top.

8. Heat 3/4 cup heavy cream to simmer, pour over chocolate chips. Let sit 2 minutes, stir smooth. Cool slightly.

9. Spoon ganache around the edge to drip down the sides.

10. Pipe extra whipped cream on top, garnish with whole strawberries and sprinkles. Chill for 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Make sure the whipped cream is very cold before whipping for best texture.

Allow the ganache to cool slightly to control the drip effect.

Fresh strawberries are key—only use frozen for interior filling if needed.
