  • Yield: 1 large cookie (serves 6–8)

Description

Golden on the outside, gooey in the center, and loaded with melty chocolate chunks, this Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is the definition of cozy dessert comfort. Baked in a cast-iron skillet, it gets that perfect crispy edge while staying rich and chewy throughout. One slice of this warm cookie topped with a scoop of ice cream is all you need to feel like you’re indulging in something truly special. It’s perfect for a quick dessert, late-night snack, or easy baking idea when you want something sweet without the fuss.

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks

1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet or oven-safe skillet.

2. In a mixing bowl, melt the butter. Whisk in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.

3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and whisk until fully combined.

4. Fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.

5. Stir in most of the chocolate chunks and chips, reserving some for topping.

6. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared skillet and press the reserved chocolate on top.

7. Bake for 22–25 minutes, until edges are golden and center is just set.

8. Cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if using.

Notes

Don’t overbake—center should be slightly soft for gooey texture.

Add a swirl of Nutella or peanut butter before baking for extra richness.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for best results.
