Packed with seasoned ground beef, gooey cheese, garlicky butter, and all the comforting vibes of a Philly classic—this stuffed bread loaf is crispy on the outside and molten on the inside. Whether you’re serving it for a crowd or enjoying leftovers later, it’s one of those easy dinner ideas that hits the spot every time. A perfect blend of bold flavor, easy recipe steps, and satisfying comfort food in one slice.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 tablespoons mayonnaise

6 slices provolone cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 tablespoons chopped parsley

1 large French bread loaf

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a small saucepan, add garlic, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Set aside.

2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is browned and onions are soft. Drain fat.

3. Add minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for 1 more minute, then stir in mayonnaise. Remove from heat.

4. Slice the French bread loaf lengthwise and hollow out some of the interior to make room for the filling.

5. Brush the inside and edges of the bread with the prepared garlic butter.

6. Layer provolone slices inside the loaf, add the beef mixture, and top with mozzarella and more provolone if desired.

7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes until cheese is bubbly. Broil for 1–2 minutes to brown the top.

8. Garnish with parsley, let cool for 5 minutes, and slice into 8 portions.

Notes

Always drain excess fat from the beef to prevent sogginess.

For extra flavor, toast the hollowed-out bread interior pieces as croutons.

Add mushrooms or bell peppers for a veggie boost.
